Here’s a little info on the residents of the Land of Shad & Sonia.
Shad is a computer tech for a local consulting company. He was born in Vancouver and moved around a lot in his childhood (Nelson, Yellowknife, Whitehorse, Kamloops, Dawson Creek, Abbotsford). He moved to Victoria to go to school and never left. He met Sonia in 2003 through some mutual friends and they were married in Jan 2004. He’s been an avid guitar player and has recently branched out to learn how to play the trumpet and piano. . .well, at least try to play them.
Sonia works as a web developer for a local university. She was born and raised in Victoria, like her father, and grandmother, and great-grandfather, and so on and so on. She is a talented piano player and composes her own music.
Monster is Shad’s cat. His mother was a pregnant stray who was adopted by Shad’s upstairs neighbours. When it came time to give the kittens away, he got attached to little Monster and decided to keep him. Monster’s hobbies are jumping and pulling the hair off of other cats. He also is into making “kitty-porn” with KC. This picture is a little decieving, Monster is a big cat. I think he probably the biggest of all our animals.
KC (short for Kitty-Cat) is Sonia’s “special” persian. KC is special in the sense that if she were a child, she would be riding the short bus to school. Her eyes are a little crossed and she has trouble picking up he tail when she is in the litter box. But Sonia love her very much. KC’s hobbies are hiding in small boxes and bags, or pretty much where no one can find her.
Oscar is our little puppy man. He is a Lhaso-Apso/Dachshund cross. I swore that I’d never get a puppy from a pet store, but the SPCA and CRD only had big dogs, labs and pit bulls. I don’t need that running around my house. He’s turned out to be a pretty good dog, if only he wouldn’t run away on us. He has lot’s of adoring fans in the neighborhood.
Annie is the newest member of our family. She was my grandmother Memere’s dog. She was rescued from a puppy mill a few years ago, and was named Annie because she was an orphan. After Memere passed away we took Annie in. We didn’t want her to go anywhere outside the family. She’s still not sure what to think of the cats, but she’s starting to settle in nicely.
Lily was one of Sonia’s persian kitties. She passed away from kidney failure in January 2011. We miss her a lot.
